Welcome
Parents of Murdered Children and Other Survivors Of Homicide Victims (POMC) is a self-help organization designed to offer emotional support and information about how to survive the loss of a loved one to murder. Members help one another by sharing experiences, feelings, and insights by allowing others to do the same.
Why We are Here
To provide ongoing emotional support, help survivors begin the reconstruction of their lives, and find *new normals* which is important to promote a healthy resolution to an seemingly unbearable situation. We help survivors deal with their acute grief, as well as the criminal justice system. The staff of the National office will write or phone any survivor and, if possible, link that survivor with others in the same vicinity who have survived a loved ones homicide. We communicate and provide training to professionals in such fields as law enforcement, mental health, social work, community service, law, criminal justice, medicine, education, religion, the media and mortuary service, who are interested in learning more about survivors of homicide victims and their problems. |
